Gwen Stefani leaves No Doubt

Keyword: Gwen Stefani, No Doubt

Boy did I miss No Doubt!
No Doubt

It’s good to see Gwen Stefani and her wife-beater with the bra straps showing back with the fellas.

They perform “I’m Just a Girl,” and Gwen’s voice seems to have matured from the early years. Not sure why she felt compelled to do some push-ups, but I get that her body is still sick after two babies.

I think her vocals might have sounded better if she didn’t feel the need to run all over the place. Still, it was fun in a comic-book kind of way.

Ryan is so cheeky with his "Hi babe" to Gwen. I’m excited that No Doubt is going on tour. I’m just a fan!

Scrubs Series Finale Review

Keyword: Scrubs Series

Since last year, I had heard there was going to be a big cameo appearance by a lot of the minor characters that have been on the show Scrubs in the finale. I waited and waited through the two-part finale and the episode was mostly about that it wasn't going to be a big farewell to JD, who was changing hospitals. So by mid-way to the 2nd part, it finally happened but it was a dream sequence of sorts. Many of them looked familiar and some looked so different, unrecognizable. There was like 3 or 4 dead ones, except for his dad and Brendan Faser. Some I did not recognize (even though I watch the reruns all the day!). It was a good 2-parter, about how things don't have be how you expect them. We finally got Janitor's true name.. sort of. And there was a nice emotional moment between Carla and JD. JD had a 'projector home movies' sort of dream sequence of the future, where he and Elliott marry, have a daughter and then in the future, he and Turk's first-borns are engaged. But of course, these are just fantasies. When he left Sacred Heart in his car, I was afraid he was going to get in a car accident after saying who is to say his fantasies wouldn't come true but thank god, he left with no accident. After the commercial break, we got a making-of-of sorts of course.

Jerry Remy Recovering from Cancer Surgery

Keyword: jerry remy cancer

BOSTON - NESN announced Wednesday that Red Sox color commentator Jerry Remy is taking an indefinite leave of absence to fully recover from the effects of cancer surgery.

"I want to focus on completing my recovery so that I can return to work without distractions or interruptions," said Remy, a former smoker who underwent surgery for lung cancer late last year.

Remy expected a more immediate return but suffered a setback due to an infection and subsequent case of pneumonia. He now hopes his experience serves as a cautionary tale about the adverse health effects of smoking.

"I hope that disclosing my bout with cancer will reinforce the dangers of smoking to every member of Red Sox Nation, especially children," said Remy, the president of Red Sox Nation.

Remy joined the New England Sports Network in 1988 and has teamed with play-by-play announcer Don Orsillo since 2001.

"Jerry is beloved, and on behalf of everyone in Red Sox Nation, I want him to know that he is in our thoughts," Red Sox chairman Tom Werner said. "We will sorely miss him in the broadcast, but the most important thing is that he takes all the time he needs to recover."

Nurse's Day

Keyword: Nurse Day

The International Council of Nurses (ICN) has celebrated this day since 1965. In January 1974, the decision was made to celebrate the day on May 12 as it is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered the founder of modern nursing. Each year, ICN prepares and distributes the International Nurses' Day Kit. The kit contains educational and public information materials, for use by nurses everywhere.

As Florence Nightingale is no longer seen as a role model in some parts of the world, demands have arisen, for example by the British public sector union UNISON, to transfer this day on another date. 21 May, the birthday of Elizabeth Fry (1780-1845), has been suggested. Elizabeth Fry founded the Institution of Nursing Sisters and is also known for her work with prisoners.

Meet President Obama's Newest Opponent, Clifford Asness

Keyword: cliff asness

In addition to his gifts of oratory and political acumen, President Obama has often been gifted with amazing good luck. Of course, it is often said that one makes his own luck, but even the president's aides concede that his rapid ascent from the state legislature to the White House was cleared by fate and good fortune.

These days, that luck may be most apparent in the president's political opponents, by which I'm referring to not just the current disarray of the Republican Party, but those voices who rise above the din to emerge as Mr. Obama's critics.

Which brings us to money manager Cliff Asness of AQR Capital Management whose angry letter -- "Unafraid in Greenwich, Connecticut" -- has emerged today in the conservative and media worlds as a harsh critique of the president's attack last week on hedge fund owners refusing to go along with his administration's plans for Chrysler.
