Princess Royal Island, British Columbia
A seaplane ferries guests from Vancouver to this 17-room floating lodge moored in a sheltered harbor at the foot of Princess Royal Island in the Great Bear Rainforest. Depending on the month—the resort is open from June through September—guests may see humpback whales, orcas, porpoises, sea lions, sea otters and black bears. September is the best month to catch a glimpse the elusive white Kermode, or "Spirit Bear."
Price: Doubles from $8,667 for three nights, including round-trip flight from Vancouver. For more information: King Pacific Lodge888.592.5464
